MR SCIENCE Lab Awarded a Research Initiatives in Science and Engineering (RISE) Grant

November 17, 2022

We are excited to announce that the MR SCIENCE Lab has been awarded a Research Initiatives in Science and Engineering (RISE) grant under a new collaboration with Drs. Andrew Einstein (Cardiology) and Sachin Jambawalikar (Radiology). This grant is based on a recent publication by graduate student Mr. Yun Shang, M.Sc., demonstrating that high-resolution B0 magnetic field distributions in the human heart can be simulated based on structural CT images (https://doi.org/10.1002/nbm.4739). This project aims to establish simulated (from CT) and in vivo measured (via MRI) B0 conditions in an identical subject cohort for direct side-by-side comparison and conclusively validate the proposed cardiac B0 simulation method. The validated simulation method is expected to investigate cardiac B0 conditions in the population from a large sample of CT images, paving the way for the development of optimal subject- and population-specific cardiac B0 shim strategies.
